Sometimes it's hard to ask for help

Asking for help, or needing it rather, often makes us feel vulnerable.   For many, it dredges up past failures or times when they were not able to "do for themselves."

ASKING FOR HELP WILL MAKE YOU STRONGER

It is hard for many of us to ask for help.  BUT, none of us can do everything equally as well.  Try to be realistic about what you are trying to do and whether or not it makes sense to ask for help.

By asking for help you strengthen the fabric of your social network - others will appreciate that you respect them enough to ask for their help.

You will add to your repertoire by asking for help - someone else can provide you with information or techniques that you would not otherwise know or easily discover on your own.

It will be a relief to be able to accomplish whatever you are struggling to do on your own - at the very least you will receive validation on your efforts.

WHO SHOULD YOU ASK FOR HELP?

In terms of your career and or résumé it may make sense to pay an expert.  I can't count the number of times that I am told about very bad advice provided by well meaning, but uninformed friends, relatives, or loved ones.

If you chose not to go that route at least consult someone you respect or read all you can to improve your ability to help yourself!  Give thought to what you need help with and identify the best person in your network to assist you.

What do you need help with today?  Who will you ask?
