DON'T BE YOUR OWN WORST ENEMY

TUESDAY TIP
Don't be your own worst enemy.  You know you can be!  We all do it from time to time, but are you making a habit of convincing yourself that you are not worthy, can't do it, are undesirable  a loser or whatever other negative self-talk you have with yourself?  If you are out of work the chances are you ARE your are your own worst enemy.

If you hope to find work, you need to be positive about yourself and your abilities to find work! Isolation and lack of feedback add fuel to the fire.  So, some easy things you can do to begin to overcome the impact and habit of negative self-talk are to:
  1. Read or listen to inspirational stories once a week and think about them once a day
  2. Read or sign up to receive inspirational quotes once a day
  3. Ask loved ones and those who respect you to write what you mean to them or note what are your best qualities - post these where you can see them daily
  4. Join a group...any group!
  5. Volunteer to help the needy or disabled
  6. Consider exploring spirituality or religion
  7. What other ideas can you come up with to keep you feeling positive about yourself and your chances of obtaining a job?

When you are out of work it can be difficult to find positive things to think about or focus on. One thing... A person following up will find out very quickly they are not able to reach anyone in any positive way that will be helpful.

Understanding that you control how you handle change can really help you deal with it. Try to focus on the things you can control and face the change before you with a positive mindset if you want to make the most of it.
